Objects worth keeping.

An independent journal
Workwear / carry / everyday objects

About simpl.

A simple life isn’t a life without pleasure. In fact, it’s the opposite.

It’s finding joy in understated things that just work.

It’s putting on your favourite outfit without needing to think twice.

It’s trusting your favourite sling to keep your essentials safe, rain or shine.

It’s a favourite pair of boots that you can imagine wearing ten years from now. And who knows… they might feel even better then.

At simpl., our goal is as simple as it gets: to find things that last, appreciate them, and share what makes them worth keeping.

The journal

We write about workwear, bags, footwear and the things we carry every day. There’s a particular affection for Japanese workwear, well-used leather and clothes that feel comfortable from the moment you put them on.

You’ll find new releases, shop visits, brand stories and notes on using things over time. We’re interested in the details: how something is made, how it fits into everyday life, and what happens to it after the novelty wears off.

A new bag can catch your eye. The bag you keep reaching for five years later has a story worth telling, too.

A note from Wern

I’m Wern, the person behind simpl.

I’ve spent more than a decade in publishing, and writing is still something I enjoy. I started this journal to give that interest a home, alongside a growing appreciation for things I can use, care for and keep.

Time spent in Japan gives me the chance to visit shops and see some of these things up close. I want to bring those observations here, alongside the finds, questions and occasional obsessions that come with paying a little more attention to everyday objects.

Some of those stories will begin with something new. Others will begin with something I’ve owned for years.

Both belong here.
