The A by BEAMS adds a hidden layer to HAVEN's denim work jacket

The A by BEAMS puts a WINDSTOPPER membrane behind dark selvedge denim for HAVEN’s twentieth anniversary. A familiar work jacket takes a different turn.

At first glance, this looks like a short, faded denim jacket. The detail that changes the proposition sits behind the cloth.

The A by BEAMS has made a four-piece collection for HAVEN's twentieth anniversary, released exclusively through the retailer on 17 October 2026. The Denim Work Blouson combines a familiar workwear shape with a WINDSTOPPER membrane. It is an interesting choice for anyone who likes denim but finds an ordinary jacket less useful once the wind picks up.

A different starting point for denim

HAVEN specifies 12.5oz selvedge denim with a cotton shell and nylon lining. The fabric takes inspiration from 1947XX denim, using irregular yarns for a visibly uneven surface. A BIO FADE treatment softens the starting appearance, followed by sumi dyeing for the dark indigo-black finish.

That gives this jacket some of the visual character usually associated with an older garment. The attraction is easy to understand: a dark jacket with enough variation to avoid looking flat. How its finish develops from here will depend on wearing and caring for it; the photographs show its starting point.

The layer you cannot see

The membrane is the more unusual part. HAVEN describes the jacket as windproof and water-resistant. Those are the retailer's specifications, rather than results from a simpl. wear test. It should not be treated as a substitute for a waterproof rain shell on that description alone.

The remaining details are straightforward: a two-way front zip, flap pockets with concealed zipped pockets, and an internal security pocket. The relaxed cut leaves room to think about what goes underneath. Comparing the published chest and length measurements with a jacket you already wear would be more useful than choosing by the size letter alone.

A substantial purchase

The anniversary collection brings BEAMS' approach to American casualwear to HAVEN. This Japanese-made blouson is one of its more technical pieces, and the price reflects that: ¥160,000 on the JPY storefront checked on 21 October, with sizes S–XL showing as available. Regional pricing and delivery charges may differ.

The question is whether the added weather protection makes denim useful on more of your ordinary days. At this price, that deserves a clear answer. A good fit, an understood care routine and a real place in your wardrobe matter more than the anniversary attached to the label.
