KATO’s FW26 Teacore jeans use a different starting point for fading: brown cotton warp yarn beneath an indigo rope-dyed surface, rather than the familiar pale core. The maker’s current range includes the loose-straight Pail and washed Teemu versions, alongside its Hammer fit.
James’s 26 October Heddels report drew attention to the release. It is a useful dated discovery source, but neither that date nor a current new-arrivals listing establishes the first day every fit went on sale.
Start with the raw Pail
The exact Pail listing, style 3026B69205, describes 14.5oz Japanese slub selvedge in 100% cotton, with a high rise, button fly, leather patch and US manufacture. It is non-stretch denim. The advertised US price is $268 before any destination-specific checkout costs.
KATO says the brown core is intended to change the colour revealed by wear. That is the material idea, not a fade result observed by simpl. The page’s generic prose also discusses distressed effects, while the product title and specifications identify this exact Pail as Indigo Raw; raw and pre-washed versions should not be conflated.
Fit and ordering matter more than the label
The washed Barrel Teemu is separately listed at $298. Its finished treatment is not evidence of how a new raw pair will age, and the cuts should be compared through their own measurements rather than treated as interchangeable.
KATO’s published policy excludes international orders from returns and exchanges. We have not tested a Malaysia checkout or confirmed size-level stock. The raw Pail page combines size options with unavailable messaging, so a visible selector is not proof a chosen size can be bought. Confirm the precise fit, variant and terms before ordering.
