Kawanishi Kaban’s next Dual release is a small leather shoulder bag with the outline of a folded envelope. The maker lists 24 October as the launch date for Letter, priced at ¥44,900 including Japanese tax.

The official product page puts its capacity at 1.6 litres and weight at around 330g. That places it in everyday-essentials territory: a phone, a small wallet, keys and the other things that otherwise end up distributed across pockets. Its flap keeps most of the front clear, with a small silver-toned closure and restrained branding.

A collection built around the leather
Letter is part of the Dual collection announced in September, which is rolling out through October. The maker uses double-face cowhide without a separate lining or stiffening core, leaving the beige reverse of the leather visible. Grey, black and green are the three exterior colours.

The bag includes an adjustable shoulder strap and a zipped pocket with a YKK Excella zip. Kawanishi’s photographs show a relatively flat silhouette against the body, with enough depth at the base to avoid becoming a document sleeve. The natural surface is expected to vary from bag to bag; the clean outline does not mean every piece of leather will look identical.

The wider range gives the same material treatment several different jobs. Every is an upright tote, also ¥44,900. Hand is a small wallet and Book a key case, each listed at ¥22,900. Those prices belong to the separate items, not a matching set.

Letter is the useful news hook here, but the shared approach is what makes the range interesting: modest shapes, an exposed leather interior and little decoration to work around. It is easy to picture the grey or black shoulder bag alongside a chore coat, or the green version adding colour to an otherwise quiet outfit.

Kawanishi lists the launch as subject to change. Check the maker’s Letter listing for the final release and delivery information; international availability is not established by the Japanese announcement.
