Root announced the Float Daypack NORI:LUX on 23 October, bringing a glossier surface to its KONBU nylon. The black daypack combines that finish with a separate computer compartment and shoulder straps that use a temperature-responsive material.
Heat and pressure, not a leather shell
The NORI:LUX finish comes from applying heat and pressure to the fabric. Root describes the result as smooth and leather-like; the specified body materials are nylon and cowhide, rather than an all-leather shell. Its announcement also describes a water-repellent treatment. That is a manufacturer claim, not evidence that the bag is waterproof.

A commuter layout
The product listing gives dimensions of 33 × 44 × 13cm and a weight of 880g. Root specifies a separate sleeve for computers up to 15 inches, alongside internal and external organisation. Actual fit still depends on the device and any protective case. Side pockets and a front compartment keep frequently used items apart from the main load.
On the underside of the shoulder straps, HUMOFIT is intended to soften with body warmth and conform to the wearer. Root links this to carrying comfort, but we have not tested that effect. A removable chest strap and a rear suitcase-handle pass-through complete the travel-oriented details.

The finish has its own care requirements
Root lists the Japan-made bag at ¥38,500 including Japanese tax. The official shop showed an add-to-cart control when checked on 27 October; that does not establish delivery to Malaysia.
The maker recommends gentle brushing and warns that strong rubbing can mark the surface white. That caveat matters as much as the shine. Root also includes the model in its forthcoming Yokohama Takashimaya pop-up, running from 28 October to 3 November, offering a local opportunity to inspect the material and fit.
