Root will offer its NODI phone shoulder strap at Yokohama Takashimaya from 28 October to 3 November. The advance sale gives the new strap a physical introduction before an online release planned for November, with its main design change hidden inside the cord.
A softer core is the proposition
The manufacturer’s 24 October release identifies the inner material as Mitsui Chemicals’ ABSORTOMER. Root says it softens with warmth and gradually adapts to the contact surface. The surrounding cord is polyester, with alloy hardware.
This is a comfort proposal, not a result from our own wear testing. The release describes material and tension experiments, while explicitly noting that these do not directly measure a reduction in shoulder burden during use. A laboratory demonstration and a day spent carrying a phone are different things.

Three lengths, six colours
NODI is priced at ¥8,250 including Japanese tax. Root lists 110, 120 and 130cm cord lengths, with a stated tolerance of about one centimetre, and six colourways. Matte-finished fittings keep the visible hardware relatively restrained.
Before choosing a length, check how the strap sits over the clothes it will be worn with. The press instructions describe connecting the supplied parts to a phone case’s strap hole; they do not establish universal compatibility with every case.

Try it before the web launch
The Yokohama pop-up occupies the fourth-floor handbag department. Advertised hours are 10am–8pm, closing at 6.30pm on the final day. Product availability at the counter has not been verified in person.
Root’s own news and event pages currently say mid-November for online sales, while the company’s press release says late November. With that discrepancy unresolved, the firm date here is the advance-sale window, not an exact web launch. International ordering and Malaysian availability remain unconfirmed.
