Yamatomichi put the Kami Shirt back on its Japanese online sales calendar for 26 October at 18:00 JST. This is a restock of the washi-and-nylon trail shirt introduced earlier in 2026, not a new model launch.
The reason to look closely is the fabric trade-off. The maker lists a size-M weight of 81g, but it also explicitly warns that the very thin cloth has low tear resistance and can fade through sweat and ultraviolet exposure.
Paper yarn in a walking shirt
The specification identifies KJF-PPX fabric containing 72% recycled nylon and 28% paper, at 46g per square metre. Manufacturing is listed in Ehime, Japan. Those figures describe the product; they do not establish how it will feel on every wearer or survive every route.
Yamatomichi attributes moisture management and fast drying to the material. We have not conducted a drying, odour or abrasion test. The visible choice is a conventional collared, button-front shirt in a notably light textile, with the brand’s own care limitations worth reading before use.
A restock notice is not a stock count
The original June announcement and the October sales notice serve different purposes: the former introduces the shirt, while the latter records another sales event. Existing product photography is used here to show that same shirt, not a revised edition.
We have not verified the remaining sizes and colours, current checkout price or a Malaysia order. Check the exact variant and the maker’s care guidance before buying. For rough vegetation or repeated abrasion, its published tear-resistance warning matters more than any broad promise of ultralight versatility.
