New Balance’s grey 990v7 is moving towards its Japanese release through a member lottery that opened on 26 October. Entries for U990GR7 close at 13:00 JST on 30 October, ahead of sales and dispatch from 6 November. The listed price is ¥49,500 including Japanese tax.
A familiar shape, revised underneath
The seventh version keeps the layered grey appearance associated with the series. New Balance specifies pig suede, mesh, leather accents and a synthetic-suede sway bar in the upper. Its official detail photographs make the changes easier to read than a distant campaign shot: overlapping panels, visible mesh and a substantial sculpted sole remain the defining elements.
Underfoot, the maker says its FuelCell foam is softer than the formulation used in the 990v6. ENCAP and a new TPU midfoot shank also appear in the specification. Those are construction and manufacturer performance statements, not the result of a wear test by simpl.

Try before the draw
The Japan release lists D width in 22.5–29.0cm and 30.0cm. New Balance Harajuku has been offering try-on samples since 23 October, with that programme scheduled through 7 December. The sample range is narrower: 23.0–29.0cm. A fitting visit therefore does not establish that every launch size is available to try.

The Japan purchase conditions
The lottery covers the official online shop and named Japanese stores and is limited to myNB members at Bronze level or above. The notice permits one entry per person and excludes coupons and point redemption. Harajuku is outside the draw and is scheduled to sell normally from 6 November.
This is a Japan-specific buying window, not confirmation of Malaysian stock or international delivery. Check the current store notice and the chosen size before making plans. We have not entered the draw, tested the shoe or verified individual orders.
