Suunto’s Race 3S is scheduled to reach Japan on 29 October at ¥85,800 including tax. The 22 October local announcement lists Titanium Black, Titanium Feather and Titanium Orchid. This is the Japanese release window, not a claim that the watch is making its worldwide debut that day.
The useful part is the map
The Race 3S combines dual-band positioning with downloadable offline maps showing contours and place names. Suunto says those maps do not require an additional subscription. Its global product page lists 64GB of storage and a 1.32-inch AMOLED display, with a claimed peak brightness of 2,000 nits.
The maker puts the watch at about 56g including its silicone strap and specifies a titanium bezel and sapphire crystal. These are published specifications. They do not establish comfort on a particular wrist, scratch immunity or navigation accuracy in every landscape.

Read the battery figure with its conditions
Suunto advertises up to 38 hours of dual-band GPS use, or up to 32 hours with the always-on display enabled. Real endurance depends on settings and operating conditions. We have not run a battery or positioning test, so the headline duration should be read as the manufacturer’s maximum rather than a field result.

Some functions come later
The Japanese announcement describes Race Planner and offline music playback as features intended for later software updates. Buying the hardware is therefore not evidence that every advertised software feature is available on day one.
The new AI Coach sits in the Suunto app. The local announcement offers three months free for Race 3S units activated by 31 December, without a card registration or automatic charge after that trial. Longer-term pricing and regional eligibility should be checked separately; the free offline maps are a different feature.

A regional buying decision
The exact Titanium Black page corroborates the Japanese price, but we have not placed an order or checked individual colour stock. Malaysian availability, warranty coverage and cross-border costs remain unverified. For now, the concrete news is the dated Japan launch and the compact watch’s mapping-focused specification, not a tested performance recommendation.
