There is something reassuring about a brown bag beside a pair of worn jeans. It already feels like part of an outfit, without asking you to build the rest of the day around it.
That is the appeal of the latest Pas Normal Studios × PORTER backpack. Released in Japan on 2 October 2026, it brings a little of the cycling label’s practical thinking into a shape that looks equally at home away from the bike.

A familiar shape, with useful details
Pas Normal Studios specifies Japanese manufacture, Oxford and ripstop nylon, and an adjustable hood with buckle fastenings. There is a zipped pocket on top for smaller items. Under the hood, a drawstring closes the main compartment.
The official photographs show the colour choices working together: brown outside, navy inside, olive straps and a small touch of burgundy on the trim. It is enough variation to keep the bag interesting without making it difficult to wear.

Room for a regular day
Yoshida lists a 14-litre capacity and an internal pocket for a 13-inch laptop. The bag measures 25 × 43 × 13.5cm and weighs 968g. That makes it worth considering for a fairly contained daily load: the laptop, a light layer, and the smaller things that usually end up in a sling.

That is a starting point for deciding whether it suits you. A screen measurement does not tell you the size of a laptop’s case, and a nearly one-kilogram bag is worth trying on before adding the weight of a normal working day. Bring the things you actually carry if you get the chance to see it in a shop.

For clothing, the brown feels easy to place. An overshirt, loose denim and boots would be a natural starting point. A plain sweatshirt would do just as well. The cycling connection gives it context; the colours make it feel useful beyond a riding kit.

Each bag also comes with an original pouch carrying both brands’ logos. It is a small addition, with the same brown colour keeping the set together.

The backpack was listed at ¥99,000 through Yoshida’s Japanese store and €650 through Pas Normal Studios’ international store on 21 October 2026. At that price, the useful question is how often it would replace the bag you already reach for.
A good-looking bag earns a second look. A bag that suits the way you move earns its place by the door.
